This typical bread is the most common dish of the Native people of Quebec. Some add raisins, blackberries or pieces of chocolate. In short, anything you can get your hands on. Personally, I recommend adding a drop of cognac, almonds and fresh vanilla to the dough, then serve it with a blueberry coulis! These ingredients are not part of the local cuisine, but they are so tasty!

INGREDIENTS

    • 500 grams of flour
    • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
    • Salt and water

      PREPARATION

      1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
      2. Add water until you obtain a smooth dough without overkneading. Mould it into a cylinder about ten centimetres thick. Mould it into a cylinder about ten centimetres thick.
      3. Heat oil (or better still, animal fat) in a saucepan and fry the bread for 5 to 10 minutes on each side.
